From the outside, you've got it together. Your friends may even described you as "perfect" but every time you hear that adjective, you want to scream. Keeping up appearances is EXHAUSTING and your carefully curated facade is starting to chip. But you can't seem to get out of your own way... and you've been trying really hard, maybe even for many years. That's a lonely, scary place to be. I will help you learn skills to slow the spinning wheels of your perfectionist thinking and feel more confident in the amazing individual you are.
Something feels “off” or maybe a little broken. Problems you once were able to solve with ease, now feel insurmountable. Friendships, relationships, and hobbies that used to bring you joy, now have less meaning. Your mind is scattered and the negative thoughts that tell you “you’re worthless,” are getting louder.
Feelings and thoughts like these are common for someone experiencing a depressive episode. Whether this was triggered by a specific event or something you've been feeling for a while, we will develop a treatment plan that's just right for you.
It is impossible to be a human being and not have some sort of emotional and physical relationship with your body and food. Why? Because we all have bodies that require food for nourishment and growth. But from birth, these bodies of ours have grown up in a system that teaches us that some bodies are better than others, weight-gain is shameful, and food choices dictate one's moral character.
If you are interested in exploring how your cultural, familial, and personal narratives are effecting your relationship with your body and food, pull up a chair, and let's dig in.
Did you know it is impossible to feel anxiety and gratitude simultaneously? Try it...Think of something that feels anxiety provoking to you; feel that sensation in your body. Now, bring to mind three specific things you are deeply grateful for. Is the anxious sensation still with you?
Bringing conscious awareness to the present moment is a practice that I can help you cultivate in a way that makes sense for you and your needs. I am trained in a variety of evidence-based mindfulness/grounding techniques that are supportive in reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression while elevating self-esteem and body-trust.
