Mindfulness Skills Training

Did you know it is physiologically impossible for you to feel both anxiety and gratitude simultaneously? It's true! Try thinking of three specific people, places, or things you are truly grateful for while also conjuring up feeling of anxiety. Impossible, right?


I will teach you mindfulness practices and coping skills that can be incorporated into your everyday life to help you with the mental health challenges you are currently facing.  

Depression

 Something feels “off” or maybe a little broken. Problems you once were able to solve with ease, now feel insurmountable. Friendships, relationships, and hobbies that used to bring you joy, now have less meaning. Your mind is scattered and the negative thoughts that tell you “you’re worthless,” are getting louder. Feelings and thoughts like these are common for someone experiencing a depressive episode. Whether this was triggered by a specific event or something you've been feeling for a while, we will develop a treatment plan that's right for you.

Not to mention the constant transitions...moving dorms, changing roommates, applying for jobs/internships, moving back home, dating, hook-ups...the list goes on and on.  Helping your child navigate the emotional ups and downs of adolescence and emerging adulthood is overwhelming and, at times, even terrifying. It can feel like you don’t even know the teenager sitting across from you at the dinner table. How do you set and maintain boundaries that feel respectful for everyone in the house? How do you make collaborative decisions when your teen is constantly pushing you away? Maybe yours is the house where there is lots of yelling and door slamming, or perhaps it's complete isolation and total silence. There's no "right" or "wrong" and certainly no "blame" or "shame." These are difficult dynamics that every caregiver faces, made only harder when compounded by a mental health crisis or trauma. Through parent coaching, my goal is to help you become clear on your parenting expectations so that you walk away with strategies to problem solve those sticky moments with your growing child.
